Github PR Mew ("the Extension") is a Chrome extension that helps you save multiple pull request templates as presets and insert them into GitHub pull request descriptions. This privacy policy describes how the Extension handles user data.

Data We Handle

The Extension may store the following data on your device:

  • Presets: Template names and body text that you create and save within the Extension.
  • GitHub Token (optional): If you choose to set a GitHub personal access token in the Extension's options, it is stored in an encrypted form. This token is used only to access the GitHub API when you use features that require it (e.g., repository-specific templates).
  • Other settings: Any other preferences you configure in the Extension (e.g., options page settings).

How We Use Data

  • Presets and settings: Used solely to provide the Extension's features (e.g., listing your presets, inserting the selected template into the PR description field on GitHub).
  • GitHub Token: Used only when you use features that call the GitHub API (e.g., fetching repository information). The token is sent only to GitHub's official API in the context of those actions.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. The Extension does not transmit your presets, settings, or token to any server other than GitHub's API when you explicitly use a feature that requires it (and only then for that purpose).

Data Retention

Data remains in your browser's local storage until you uninstall the Extension or clear your browser data for the Extension. We do not retain any copy of your data.

Your Choices

  • You can add, edit, or delete presets at any time from the Extension.
  • You can remove your GitHub token from the Extension's options at any time.
  • Uninstalling the Extension will remove all data stored by it from your device.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised when changes are made. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
